What is a gabion box?
A gabion box is a rectangular wire-mesh container that is assembled on site and filled with suitable stone. Filled units are stacked or placed to form gravity retaining structures, channel and riverbank protection, erosion-control works and landscape walls. The mesh holds the stone in place while the structure stays free-draining and able to tolerate some movement.
